Our Guest speakers:
Yonnie Chyung, EdD, is a professor and Chair of the Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning department (OPWL) at Boise State University. She currently teaches a graduate course on Evaluation, and has designed and taught other graduate courses on Survey Design and Data Analysis, Quantitative Research in Organizations, and Foundations of Instructional and Performance Technology. For her research, Chyung focuses on synthesizing and developing evidence-based principles for survey design and has written a series of practitioner-oriented articles on that topic with her research teams consisting of OPWL master’s students and graduates. She is an author of books, 10-Step Evaluation for Training and Performance Improvement (Sage) and Foundations of Instructional and Performance Technology (HRD Press). Chyung also provides pro bono consulting to assist organizations with performing program evaluations, survey design, and statistical data analysis. Jennifer Shamsy, MS, is a commercial airline pilot by day and instructional designer, researcher, and writer by night. Over the last twelve years, she has combined her love of aviation and passion for instructional design through course design, development, implementation, and evaluation as well as instruction of hundreds of future aviation professionals at several higher education institutions. Since graduating from the OPWL master’s degree program, she remains involved in several performance improvement initiatives including Dr. Yonnie Chyung’s research lab and the Idaho Youth Ranch instructional design internship program. Through collaboration with Dr. Chyung and other researchers, she has participated in several program evaluations for non-profit organizations and more recently researching and writing about evidence-based survey design.
